About Our Food Partnership

The TBB Food Partnership is a strategic food partnership. It was set up in response to the COVID-19 crisis and the increased need for food provision in the London Borough of Bromley. We want to bless and serve people affected by food poverty in communities across the borough.

We currently have 12 independent food projects in our Partnership, including church foodbanks and community fridges. We work in relationship with the Trussell Trust, Bromley Borough Foodbank and Bromley Council.

Many of our Food Partners have been serving their communities through their foodbanks and community fridges for many years. Some projects were set up as a direct response to the pandemic and the TBB Food Partnership has helped to broaden and increase the provision for the borough. All the food projects have their own referral mechanisms and method of distribution.

Our current Food Partners are primarily churches, but we welcome partners from other community organisations as we develop and grow our partnership.

You can find the locations of our Food Projects on our interactive map.

In recognition of the work done by the Food Partnership it was one of the winners of the prestigious London Faith & Belief Community Awards in 2021.

What we do:
Food manufacturers and supermarkets donate large amounts of surplus food to FareShare, a national organisation that aims to fight hunger and tackle food waste. FareShare, working with The Felix Project, passes on this food to charities and community groups, like the TBB Food Partnership.

Many other charities and businesses also want to make large food donations to charities to support those who need it most.

The food donations we receive are delivered to our central distribution hub in Orpington. We can receive and safely store dry, fresh and frozen food. This donated food is then collected by our TBB Food Partners, who give out the food to people in their communities who need it, either through their own foodbanks and community fridges, or by delivering food parcels.

If any of our TBB Food Partners are given supplies locally that they can’t use, they share it with other TBB Food Partners, either through our central distribution hub or directly with one another.

So far, the TBB Food Partnership has been able to share 1000s of kilograms of food donations, as well as 1000s of ready or one-pot meals.

The TBB Food Partnership has also received some funding to purchase food to supplement what we receive from FareShare and other suppliers. This funding enables us to provide more food to those who need it, and in particular the provision of nutritious fresh food, such as meat, poultry, fruit and vegetables.

Energy support:

Community Links Bromley (CLB) have secured a grant from the Centre for Sustainable Energy to deliver a local Bromley based SGN Safe and Warm Scheme offering support for people struggling with the current cost of living crisis and energy price cap increases.

We are delighted to be working our partners the South East London Community Energy cooperative (SELCE) and St Edwards Mottingham to deliver the support on the ground at various locations around the borough over the coming months.

The types of support will include personalised energy advice (e.g. energy efficiency behaviour change), energy efficiency measures and energy schemes, Priority Services Register sign ups, benefits eligibility checks and debt advice, energy crisis support (fuel voucher or emergency funding) and other crisis support (e.g. food, clothing or housing) and carbon monoxide safety awareness advice.

SE London Community Energy can provide impartial and expert advice in the following areas:

  1. Reducing energy bills and debt support.
  2. Contacting energy companies on your behalf.
  3. Support and guidance for grants and discounts.
  4. Home visits are available for extra support, if needed.

The latest information about the sessions will be posted on the Community Links Bromley website SGN Safe and Warm Scheme.  Please also check for updates on the TBB Facebook page.
